****2025 CITY/SCHOOL LEADER GOALS****
RAISING TAXES, RAISING SERVICE RATES, RISING HOUSE TAX VALUES, LOWERING SERVICE, AND RAISING MORE DEBT
Not an opinion, it is fact.
EX-MAYOR Johannesen
Current council members
Mark Moeller
Sedric Thomas
VOTED to approve this TRASHY DEAL for Rockwall citizens.
Remember this come voting time so we don't keep re-electing officials that do NOT put US first when making their decisions.
What is changing.
Rates are going up
Once a week trash pickup
Mandatory use of THEIR trash cans
Limited Bulk pickup
7 YEAR CONTRACT without bidding to other companies!!!
Have to purchase "tags" for your extra trash
The city has gone 22 years without bidding?!? That is insane.
Some of these councilmen want Rockwall to be like Dallas and other big surrounding cities. They are killing the reasons why people moved to Rockwall, instead making it more expensive, giving less benefits, all with poor infrastructure.
JUSTIN HOLLAND (supported by the ex-mayor Trace, and current council Thomas and Mark)
learned the hard way when he quit listening to US and our needs. Justin was FIRED, not re-elected. Remember this when these council members come up for re-election.
Current Mayor Tim McCallum
and Lewis and Campbell voted against this change and wanted to bid out, further negotiate and have the citizens decide.
A simple talk with citizens about issues go along way.
Some of us may like our 2 days a week pickup and are willing to pay more, some of us have lots of landscape and rely on big bulk, some of prefer to use our own trash cans and not pay for mandatory smaller carts. IT IS OUR TAX DOLLARS, not theirs. We should have final say as to where it goes.
Rockwall Raisies taxes while the County lowers.
The trend for the past 12 years is that the tax rate has either gone down or remained the same for Rockwall. Now they want to raise taxes! It is legal THEFT!
Rockwall City needs to budget and adjust, not tax it's citizens.
House values have skyrocketed, more homes have been built, population has doubled, and more buisnesses have moved here, which means the city has already had a surplus in tax dollars and have a much bigger budget than they did 5-10 years ago without ever raising taxes... Where is our money going?
Some reasons they hiked OUR bill.
To protect a historic church
Do multiple studies, including the rebuild of firestation 1 and possibly ask us for more money through a bond election coming soon.
They say that their auto and property insurance premiums have gone up... didn't they go up for our own properties as well? So not only do we have to pay for our higher premiums but the city wants us to pay more for theirs as well.
Raises are sometimes needed for employees, but not if they are making enough already, and not if the government created department is not needed. We need to stop waste, IE:
maybe the "neighborhood improvement district." We will post salaries later but it is crazy to pay a government HOA department that fines it's citizns, burdens them with ridiculous rules and can threaten to put us in jail. This is just one example of a department that needs to shut down.
This tax increase also pays our small town firefighters and police more than most cities it's size and some that are bigger, provide ambulance services, and have more call volume....
A firefighter makes $73,000 and can reach $145,000. They along with police are getting a 5% raise with this tax increase.
Shouldn't have to raise taxes to fund these. This is poor budgeting and wasteful spending.
